Tamur river rafting is the best and ultimate rafting experience in Nepal and probably the world because it combines trekking and rafting with the superb views of the Himalayan range including Mt Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga and Mt Makalu and Tamur river itself is a beautiful river that is formed from the snows of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third tallest mountain in the world. You have to trek 4 days to reach the start point of rafting. This is probably the best multi-adventure trip in Nepal, if not the world.

The river trip includes around 131 km descent through more than 140 of the most exciting rapids still to be named has to offer grade 3 to 4, with some graded -5, making one of the best white water expedition trips in the world. The trip starts with an internal flight or drive from Kathmandu to Biratnagar in the far South-East of Nepal.

Day 1: Departure

Arrive in Kathmandu and sightseeing/kit preparation.
Welcome to the land of Buddha . You will be picked up by the representatives of Beyond Shangri-la Travels and take you to the hotel. After reaching hotel in Thamel, you can walk around Kathmandu for sightseeing.

Day 2

Fly to Biratnagar/Drive to Dharan.
Fly to Biratnagar and then drive to Dharan. We will do sightseeing in Dharan which is a beautiful town rich with Kirat people’s history and temples. This day is also our admin day.

Day 3

(Day 3-6) Drive to Basantapur/Trekking to Dobhan 4 days.
Trekking 4 days to Dobhan via Gupha Pokhari We start our four-day treks into the heart of eastern Nepal and will stop for lunch and relax and enjoy the view and culture of local village life. Trek up over the Milke Danda via Gupha Pokhari to Dovan from where we will start our rafting trip. This route has spectacular mountain views of Mount Everest, Makalu and Kanchenjunga. Porters will be carrying the main loads (including kayaks and rafts!) We make camp.

Day 7

Brief/Raft all day.
After a comprehensive safety brief we put on the river and take on some of the most challenging whitewater in Nepal. This river is a whitewater delight with one rapid leading into the next. At camp that evening, enjoy chilling out with your sundowners, as stories are told (and exaggerated) of the day’s rafting.

Day 8

Raft all day.
Steep canyon walls enclose the river and the rapids are powerful and continuous, many of which are unnamed, perhaps your chance for some fame. As the river opens up we pass by small fishing villages and watch wild monkeys on the river banks. Overnight camp on a beautiful white sandy beach.

Day 9

Layover day.
Layover day, and a chance to do exactly what you want. Whether you choose to relax and read or join in on a spot of volleyball or swim, the choice is yours. And what a spectacular setting for it.

Day 10

Raft all day.
A relaxing day punctuated by some fun whitewater.

Day 11

Raft all day.
Some phenomenal whitewater action today as towering waves leap skyward, with seemingly endless rapids surging through steep canyon walls, to finally cascade into Sun Kosi.

Day 12

Raft to Chatara, transfer to Biratnagar, flight to Kathmandu.
Final day, raft take out in Chatara and transfer to Biratnagar for flight to Kathmandu or go for the safari trip in Koshi Tappu Wildlife reserve or drive back to Kathmandu.

Day 13

Depart from Kathmandu.
If you have enough time, you can go sightseeing and shopping. At least 3 hours before the flight, our representatives will take you to the Airport. We hope you had fun and will wait for your return next time.
