Poon hill trek in Nepal is the short and fairly easy trek within Annapurna region and is considered the best short trek by many. The trek passes the incredible Rhododendron forest, terraced fields, natural hot spring water and offers a great view of mountains and sunrise views over the Himalayas from Poonhill along the exploration of local culture and tradition in Ghandruk, the iconic village and Landruk villages. This adventure holiday in the Himalayas is popular amongst visitors.

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu
Welcome to the land of Buddha. Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, you will be warmly greeted by our company representative at the arrival gate with your name written on it. You will be then escorted to hotel. You will spend overnight at hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2

Group meeting and Sightseeing in Kathmandu
You will meet your group and get a trek brief. This will be your administration day. Also, you will explore around the world heritage sites of Kathmandu. This day is also the day for making all kit ready for the trek.

Day 3

Drive to Pokhara. Drive to Nayapul. Trek to Tikhedungha
After reaching Pokhara in 6 hours, we take a jeep to Nayapul. After a short walk along the banks of the Modi Khola river, we will reach Birethanti (1015 m), a large village that has many shops and teahouses. From here, the trail continues along the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola before climbing steadily up the side of the valley to Hille (1495 m) before reaching Tikhedungha (1570 m). Today’s walk is a short and relatively easy climb to allow you to get used to the experience of trekking in Nepal.

Day 4

Trek to Ghorepani crossing Uleri, Banthanti, Nangethanti (2840 m) 6 – 7 hours
Leaving Tikhedhunga, we will continue with our journey with a steep climb up Ulleri. Uleri is a large village at 2070m mainly occupied by Magars. The trail then continues to ascend more gently, through fine forests of oak and rhododendrons towards Banthanti at 2250m. Then we trek towards Nangethanti at 2600 m before arriving at Ghorepani (2840 m). Ghorepani is a relatively large village with excellent views of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri.

Day 5

Trek to Tadapani (2540 m) 6 hours
From Ghorepani, we will wake up early at 0500 hrs to visit Poon Hill (50 min walk), for the spectacular sunrise over the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. An excellent vantage point, Poon Hill provides an unobstructed view of the high Himalayas. Here we spend an hour or so before returning back to Ghorepani for breakfast. Leaving Ghorepani, we climb along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests toward Deurali (2960 m.) before reaching Tadapani.

Day 6

Trek to Ghandruk (1951 m) 6 hours
From Tadapani the trail descends through forests to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a village of Gurung people, one of the major ethnic groups of Nepal with charasmatic dialect, culture, costume, and life style. It is a famous destination for trekkers as it is known for its beautiful mountain views and within easy reach from Pokhara and Kathmandu. We have the afternoon to visit the Farmers Village, Museum and explore the village.

Day 7

Trek to Nayapul. Drive to Pokhara
Today, we are going to end our trek at Nayapul after a short drive back to Pokhara. Pokhara is an enchanting Himalayan Valley of remarkable beauty. You can explore its scenic land by bicycle or by foot. You can also enjoy boating in Phewa Lake over looking the beautiful Annapurna Himalayan ranges.

Day 8

Drive to Kathmandu
Drive to Kathmandu by tourist bus (7-8 hrs). Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 7: Return

Departure from Nepal
About 3 hours prior to your flight time, we transfer you to the airport to fly your onward destination. We were happy to have met you and we will cherish the bonds of our relationship developed with you all over the weeks spent with us in our amazing country Nepal. Our family wishes your best time ahead and wait for your return.
