A UNESCO world heritage site, Chitwan National Park was established in 1973. The park is the first and only one out of two parks in the world to be accredited with Conservation Assured Tiger Standard in 2015, demonstrating its excellence in tiger conservation and protection. The park covers a pristine area of 932 sq km and is situated in the subtropical inner Terai region of central Nepal. With adjacent Parsa wildlife reserve of 637.37 sq km, the coherent protected area is one of the biggest protected tiger areas in the world.

The Chitwan National Park is characterized by tropical to subtropical forest. The park’s vegetation is Sal forest, with Grassland & Riverine forest. The grasslands form a diverse and complex community with over 50 species. The Sacchrum species, often called elephant-grass can reach 8 m in height.

There are more than 43 species of mammals in the park. The park is home to exotic mammals like Bengal Tigers, Greater One Horned Rhinos, Asiatic Elephants, Sloth bears, Gaurs, Four Horned Antelopes, Common Leopards, Hyenas, Pangolins & Gangetic Dolphins. Some of the other animals found in the park are Samber, Chital, Hog deer, Barking deer, palm civet, Wild Dogs, Langurs and Rhesus monkeys.

There are over staggering 450 species of birds in the park. Among the endangered birds found in the park are Bengal florican, Giant Hornbill, Lesser florican, Black stork and White stork. Common birds seen are Peafowl, Red jungle fowl, and different species of Egrets, Herons, Kingfishers, Flycatchers and Woodpeckers. The best time for bird watching is March and December.

More than 45 species of amphibians and reptiles occur in the park and some of which are Marsh mugger crocodile, Gharials, Cobra, Green pit viper, Burmese pythons and various species of frogs and tortoises.

Day 1

Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel
You will be picked up from the airport by our company representative and transferred to the hotel in Thamel, the tourist city in Kathmandu. If you arrive in the morning, you will have plenty of time to explore the Kathmandu valley.

Day 2

Drive to Chitwan National Park (6 hrs), transfer to resort, Tharu village tour and culture dance.
You will be driven to Jagatpur by a tourist bus or a micro bus, depending on numbers. On Arrival, we will transferred to Tigerland Safari resort, one of the best resorts in Chitwan. After welcome drink, you will be taken out to explore the village of Tharu people, the indigenous people of Terai who play a huge role to protect the national park.

Day 3

Visit Elephant breeding center, Canoe ride and Bird watching.
This day you will visit the Elephant breeding center which has played a huge role in saving the species. In the afternoon, you will go on Canoe ride where plenty of Mugger crocodiles and Gharials will be seen. This will also be a good opportunity to see birds.

Day 4

Jungle walk, Elephant bathing and Jeep safari.
In the morning, you will go on Jungle walk towards the safe side of the National park and enjoy the nature with flora and fauna. After that, you will be taken to Rapti river to bath the elephants. In the afternoon, you will go on Jeep safari which is another great opportunity to explore the park.

Day 5

Drive back to Kathmandu from Chitwan.
On this day, you will be driven back to Kathmandu either by a bus or a micro bus depending upon numbers. In Kathmandu, you can go sightseeing and shopping.

Day 6

Depart from Kathmandu.
At least 3 hours before the flight, our company representatives will take you to Tribhuwan International Airport. We hope you have enjoyed the safari trip and we also hope to see you back in future.
